THE ROLE
 
The Senior Designer is responsible for delivering high quality design work across a broad range of projects.  He/she has roots in experiential and retail design and will execute design mandates from full store concepts to pop-up shops to full-scale store rebranding in a timely manner.  The Senior Designer is a creative who demonstrates attention to detail in design and craft, displays a strong story telling ability while mentoring junior staff to reach their full potential. 

 
THE DAILY
 
  • Creates visual solutions, with guidance from the Art Director and Creative Team, which translate the client’s design needs, applying expertise to each project from conception sessions to execution
  • Has a design point of view and communicates it to the creative team
  • Creates multiple design solutions for any given brief
  • Keeps up with the latest design, online and digital media trends
  • Develops and elevates design direction and apply them to space and environments 
  • Collaborates with Director but also lead and direct Designers
  • Presents and speaks to design intent and visual story-telling both internally and externally
  • Proactively communicates with stakeholders and leads meetings ensuring expectations, deadlines and budget are met
  • Works quickly and efficiently to set up files for seamless transition to the production phase
  • Stays involved in creative project ideation and concepting
  • Mentors design talent to help develop their design skills
  • Works with key production leads, including Project Managers and Project Directors, to ensure the design vision is executed in a consistent and quality manner, ensuring high standards for design quality and service within budget, scope, and timeline
  • Works with Account teams to identify and scope new design projects for prospective and existing clients
  • Maintains file structure, server asset organization/proper file naming and image protocols
  • Maintains a professional and optimistic attitude
 
 
THE MUST HAVES
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Architecture, Graphic Design or related field
  • 4+ years’ work experience as a Designer in environmental design with three years in a design agency
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced creative environment
  • Ability to effectively and appropriately interact with co-workers at a variety of levels, across many disciplines
  • Effective negotiation and problem-solving skills required
  • Strong financial understanding of budgeting, estimating, and agency profitability
  • A demonstrated track record of gaining trust and respect by consistently demonstrating sound critical thinking skills and maintaining composure in stressful situations
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of employees
  • Highly organized with a keen sense of attention to detail
  • Exceptional initiative and follow-through skills
  • After hours work and overnight travel required
